Experience & Expertise

After more than 40 years of distinguished trade experience, Don brings his plumbing, mechanical and construction background to HK along with a decades-long commitment to trenchless technology as a cost-effective solution for deteriorating infrastructures. Don founded and operated Engineered Lining Systems (ELS) of Florida for 20 years before joining the HK team upon the acquisition of ELS in 2021. He continues to specialize in trenchless solutions including UV cured pipe liners for culvert lining and repair.

Early in his career, Don graduated at the top of his class from the federally-approved four-year Northeast Florida Builders Association plumbing apprenticeship program. Today, he instills passion for the plumbing profession to apprentices completing the same program as an adjunct instructor at Florida Community College in Jacksonville. He is also consulted as a subject matter expert during the development of the state construction licensing examination for those starting their careers in the field.

Industry Certifications & Affiliations

As the founder of ELS, Don is a three-time winner of the Fastest Growing Private Companies award from the Jacksonville Business Journal, as well as the Edward Lowe Foundation Florida Companies to Watch inaugural award. Committed to personal growth as well as the growth of his company, he is a licensed plumber in both Florida and Georgia.

With his long standing devotion to the industry, he is a member of the National Association of Sewer Service Companies, American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers, American Society of Highway Engineers and the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association. He was also appointed to the Planning and Zoning Board in Orange Park, Florida.

He is a regularly requested speaker for various trade shows and has shared his work in several trade publications, including Cleaner, Trenchless Technology and PHC News.

Day-to-Day at HK

At HK, Don regularly taps into the wide breadth of experience from the HK team to help ensure customers receive a successful rehabilitation experience. This includes reviewing project site conditions and specifications and developing plans to not only meet but exceed the customer’s expectations. As the business development director, he evaluates trenchless technology applications, specializing in UV cured pipe liners for culvert lining and culvert repair.

Outside the Office

Outside of the office, Don proudly wears the title “grandpa” as he enjoys time with his wife and their grandchildren. Don likes to joke that if he knew how great grandchildren were, he would have had them first. Their two Siberian huskies keep the growing clan company, adding a lot of fur and fun to their adventures.
